Armenia is located in the Caucasus region between Asia and Europe. Its government has an excellent open-door policy for foreign investment in any sector, as well as fair and equal treatment for local and foreign investors, thus providing a stable business environment.

Its high-tech and information technology (IT) sectors have been a major attraction for foreign investment.

Armenia's banking system is well regulated and sound, and does not limit the conversion and transfer of money or the repatriation of capital and profits, including branch profits, dividends, interest, royalties and management or technical service fees.

This jurisdiction is ranked 47th out of 190 countries in ease of doing business as established by the World Bank. There are no restrictions on foreign investment or ownership, foreign exchange or repatriation of profits.

In addition, it has a favorable network of operational double taxation treaties with 46 countries and many markets can be accessed through free trade agreements, which include members of the World Trade Organization worldwide, generalized preference regimes with the United States, Canada, Japan, Switzerland, Norway and with countries of the European Union and members of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Tax incentives such as tax exemptions on income, profits and property taxes and VAT exemption are also offered to entrepreneurs in the Free Economic Zones.

Armenia and the European Union

Armenia's relations with the European Union are governed by the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between the EU and Armenia. It was signed in November 2017 and entered into force on March 1, 2021. The agreement shows the basis of cooperation in which they mutually benefit each other in various fields.

The strengthening of democracy, human rights, the rule of law, the creation of new jobs and business opportunities, the adoption of fair legislation, increased security, environmental improvement, improved quality of education and increased research opportunities are some of the benefits that were obtained thanks to the agreement.
